Night Hiking the Falls of Stewart

Stewart Falls is majestic in and of itself; even more majestic on a perfectly starry night with a layer of snow beneath your feet.

Some of the best experiences are the most spontaneous ones. We didn’t know until 45 minutes before who was going, what we were doing, and where we were going. BUT, it all worked out just fine…AND it was beautiful.

Honestly, adventures like this remind me just how much I miss out on while worrying about everything else. Forget about money and politics and life for a second and take a step into what we’ve truly been given: a world that deserves to be explored. Our purpose is to live, not just go through the motions. For me, the outdoors is living; experiencing times like these is living. And, doing it with people I enjoy just steps the living up a notch.

Read the blogs, look at the pictures, bundle up, and get yourselves out there. You’ll never know it until you try. Anyone can come up with reasons not to; but, try coming up with ones that get you moving? We can promise you won’t regret it. Not. One. Second.

Fun in Arches

I truly believe that life is too short. So many places to see and so little time to do everything. I have been to Arches numerous times and never cease to find something new and different. This trip was for my wife’s birthday weekend and I talked her into adding a hike with a couple of rappels. Not exactly a canyoneering trip, but we did have a lot of fun and the views were fabulous. Rated 3AI on the canyon scale.

U-Turn technical canyon

Just inside the Arches park is the Park Avenue trailhead. To the south is a crack approach to the top of the ridge. From there you basically walk the ridge, downclimb or rappel 2-3 times, stop to just sit and admire the fantastic views, and end with about a 70′ rappel. The next thing you know is that you are back at your vehicle. Total trip time with lots of scenic view time is about 2.5 hours.
